Cafevenus.net

Welcome to cafevenus.net. My name is Arystarca, and this is my world, a place I created for my artistic and intellectual expression in cyberspace.

I have so many interests, philosophy, literature, video games (also a form of literature), music, politics, and especially religion. I have been a Christian for most of my life, and perhaps that core belief has never changed. However, I've been willing to entertain the Pagans, because there is something to their faith that revitalizes my belief in the divine and in the goodness that may be in human nature. And they're not the only ones I've listened to: I admire the intellectualism and honesty that goes into belief systems such as Agnosticism and Atheism; I also respect the traditional concepts of Deism, though current groups have left me dubious. I am a conservative who is liberal at heart, a musician who plays because its fun; and I think I'm most Platonic in my world view than like any of the other philosophers that I have read. However, my ethics teacher would argue Aquinas. ^_^

I hope to make my site a forum for my ideas. I also hope my journal becomes a place where others can teach me, encourage me, or just make me laugh. ^_^

I am a non-traditional college student in Flagstaff, AZ, majoring in political science and journalism. I also want to minor in Asian studies. I live currently with a roommate not too far from campus, in a cramped one bedroom apartment playing too many video games, reading too many books, or spending too much time on my laptop. ^_^ I think my life at times must be truly a great thing; at other times, I think I should get out more. When the mood hits me, I do like to take hikes, go to a concert, or spend time in a museum. I'm a bit of a nerd, but I wouldn't have it any other way. ^_~

My biggest dream right now is to be a journalist. My other big dream is to visit Korea. I would like to learn to speak Korean and immerse myself in that culture. I hope to make both possible and in the meantime, I hope to make this site a place for reference and yet a place for my discourse. Learn from me if you can, but remember, it's still my paradigm; the world has room for many more.
